Rules and Regulations
Each open show will take place immediately after junior livestock shows, respectively.
General Rules
- Open shows are open to all Georgia livestock, only.
- There will be no showmanship classes.
- Entry fees are $20.00 per animal and $10 for each additional animal after that. There is no limit on the number of head an exhibitor may enter
- Livestock entries in the Junior Show ARE allowed to show in the Open Show, by paying the open show fee of $10.
- The Show Committee has final decision making privileges over all show rules.
- An official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (Health Certificate) with the individual animal identification number is required to show. An inspector with the State Department of Agriculture may be on site and current health papers must be available upon request.
- Check-in for the open show will be with respected species.
- Original registration papers will be required at check-in
- Due to the limited space, tie outs will be assigned .(The show committee reserves the right to ask you to tie your animal on your trailer if we run out of pen space.)
- Pens will be first come first serve basis.
- The owner is responsible for the care and cleanup of his/her own animal(s).
- Shavings for bedding purposes are in the barn..
- Ownership: All animals must be entered and exhibited under the recorded owner’s or coowners’ names as of the show entry deadline date and registered through their respective national breed
- The breed association original, a breed association duplicate, faxes, and emails directly from the breed associations to verify registration will be accepted and checked by Coosa Valley Livestock Committee.
- Joint Ownership: Animals owned jointly by two or more parties may be shown individually or in groups by any of the joint owners but cannot be shown by more than one owner at this show. No firm, farm, herd co-partnership or corporation will be given more than one exhibitor number.
- Breeder/Exhibitor Definition: The owner of the dam at the time of service shall be considered the breeder of the animal. Where a herd is registered in the names of different members of a family residing on one farm, and where the herd is one unit, all entries will be considered as exhibits of one breeder.
- Any Other Breed Division: Registered animals MUST show in the offered/published breed division. If no breed division exists, the animal will be shown in the Any Other Breed Division if offered. Commercial and/or Crossbred animals are not eligible for the Any Other Breed Division (Beef, Dairy Cattle, Sheep, Swine). Animals shown in the Any Other Breed Division must be registered through their national breed association. An animal registered with multiple national breed associations may only be shown in one breed division.
General Rules: Open Breeding Hog Show
- Entry Fee: $20.00 entry fee for the first animal, $10 each animal after that
- Check-in will be from 12 pm to 2 pm on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021. Show will begin following the junior hog show.
- Purebred swine must have an individual registration certificate identifying them as such.
- All Berkshire swine must be registered by the American Berkshire Association (ABA), PO Box 2436, 1769 US 52 West, West Lafayette, IN 47996. Registration paper must be presented at time of check in. The ABA is the only Berkshire swine registry recognized by the National Association of Swine Records (NASR) and the National Pedigreed Livestock Council (NPLC).
- Crossbred Division:
- Classes will be determined by official declared weights.
- Official declared weight cards must be submitted to the Swine Office by noon the day before the show.
- If an animal weighs out of its 5% weight allowance it will be disqualified, will not be re-weighed and will be ineligible for champion classes. The remaining animals in the class will move up a placing.
- There will be no weigh-backs for breed champion or grand champion classes.
- There is no minimum or maximum weight limit, but it is suggested animals are born between December 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021.

General Rules: Open Beef Cattle Show
- Entry Fee: $20.00 entry fee for the first animal, $10 each animal after that
- Check-in will be from 12 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021. Show will begin following the junior beef show.
- Divisions will be based on breed: American Breeds, British Breeds, Exotic Breeds (21 Breed Format)

General Rules: Open Breeding Goat Show
- Entry Fee: $20.00 entry fee for the first animal, $10 each animal after that
- Check-in will be from 12 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021. Show will begin following the junior goat show.
- Original registration certificates are required. Animals must be over 3 months of age.

General Rules: Open Breeding Sheep Show
- Entry Fee: $20.00 entry fee for the first animal, $10 each animal after that
- Check-in will be from 2pm to 4 pm on Thursday, October 7th, 2021. Show will begin following the junior lamb show.
- Original registration certificates are required. Animals must be over 3 months of age.
- All divisions will be based on breed: Suffolk, Hampshire, Southdown, Dorset, Katahdin, Dorper and AOB.

- Junior Heifer Calf – March 1, 2021-May 31, 2021
- Intermediate Calf – December 1, 2020-February 28, 2021
- Senior Calf – September 1, 2020-November 30, 2020
- Summer Yearling – June 1, 2020-August 31, 2020
- Jr. Yearling – March 1, 2020-May 31, 2020

- An entry form signed mailed with the correct entry fees by September 29th, 2021 for the entry to be complete.
- Entry fees are $20.00 per animal. There will be an additional $20 late fee for each entry postmarked/received after September 29th will be charged a $20 late fee; no exceptions.
- Please keep in mind that entry fees are nonrefundable; no exceptions
